Dr. Monaghan is a registered Clinical Psychologist who obtained her doctoral degree from the University of Ottawa in 2018. She works with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a range of problems including difficulties with mood and anxiety, eating disorders and body image concerns, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and emotional dysregulation, among others.
Dr. Monaghan has received training across evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and enhanced CBT for eating disorders (CBT-E), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT for PTSD), Solution-focused Family Therapy, among others.
Dr. Monaghan has also worked in diverse settings including hospital-based eating disorder, CBT and DBT programs, school boards, and various private institutions.
Throughout her Ph.D., Dr. Monaghan’s research focused on identifying cognitive antecedents to disordered eating behaviours and studying the impact of diet myths on behaviour, while developing a CBT-based group intervention to target these antecedents.
Dr. Monaghan’s treatment approach is rooted in evidence-based practice, and draws on established clinical practice guidelines and empirically supported treatments, while emphasizing client goals and needs. She strongly believes that collaboration between client and therapist is paramount, and that, at all times, the client is the expert in their experience.
In addition to her work with Evolve, Dr. Monaghan provides clinical consultation and training for the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program (OSP).
Outside of the office, Dr. Monaghan enjoys practicing yoga and downhill skiing, and spending as much time as possible with her family and their dogs!

Emily MacQuarrie (she/her) is a newly licensed clinical psychologist under the supervision of Dr. Genevieve Monaghan. She earned her doctoral degree from the University of Prince Edward Island in 2024. Emily specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults grappling with mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress, and emotional dysregulation.
Her therapeutic approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Emily has completed clinical placements at children’s clinics in the Maritimes focusing on autism spectrum disorder assessments. She recently completed her pre-doctoral residency at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, where she provided therapy and assessments for adults.
Emily takes a client-centered approach, focusing on establishing a trusting relationship with her clients, understanding their unique needs and goals for services, and taking a collaborative stance in treatment.
Emily’s research explores the impact of attachment styles on relationships, with her doctoral work focusing on adolescent peer attachment and relational aggression tendencies. She also provides psychological assessment and therapy services through Virtual CBT under the supervision of Dr. Lauren Steinhart, Psy.D, C.Psych.
In her free time, Emily enjoys family time, playing with her two cats, and camping with her partner.
